Nine Group's Leadership Team
James’ entrepreneurial adventure began at the age of just 21 when he established a reseller business, which he then sold three years later before starting Nine Telecom in 2001. For two years James was the only employee, but having first established a successful dealer channel and then started a wholesale division in 2007, Nine Group has continued to grow organically, as well as through the acquisition of businesses including Club Communications and Comms One. The Group now employs over 175 people and the former one-man band has the landmark of £100 million turnover firmly in his sights.

Grahame, an economics graduate, started his career in the oil industry with Shell. He then spent 10 years in the food and drinks industry, mainly with the Distillers Company in senior marketing and commercial roles. Grahame was headhunted by Mercury Communications in 1986 in preparation for their launch, and spent 7 years there as a director (the last three as a Managing Director). He floated the business on AIM the following year and pursued a successful acquisition strategy before reversing the business into what is now Pipex in 2003. Grahame was the co-founder and Chairman of Evolution Capital and has also held a number of other non-executive director roles.
